Project Bush

HuffPo has an article on Project Bush, an art project/social statement aiming to shine a light on the issue of women’s pubic grooming.

One of the women participating says she was prompted to bare her bush for the project by hearing that girls as young as 12 were getting waxed. I don’t know what the truth behind that claims is, though certainly a few of past commentors on this blog mention removing their pubes since their school days.

Volunteers had their pubes photographed for a collage of bush portraits, thus:

Project Bush

The project seems to be trying to take a neutral stance, but I do find it ironic that the photographer involved is a well known fashion/glamor photographer. If there’s a debate to be had about societal pressure to conform to an unreal standard of beauty, then she should certainly know about it!

Here’s a link to a larger version of the Project Bush collage.
