Shaving no-nos

Time to take a look at some shaving no-nos; things to avoid when styling your pubes.
The pic below shows four perplexed pussies.
#1 On the left, we see non-no #1: “hair around the arsehole”. After going to all the trouble of creating a nice ‘top-knot‘, this girl has missed a patch of pubes to the left of her ring-piece. Oops!
#2 Ouch, shaving rash. Time to take a break from the Brynner I think.
#3 Very neat, but… just too neat. That straight horizontal line above the labia is not naturelle! The result looks like the mandibles of a mantis. And we know what they do to their mates!
#4 Maintenance required! Not only has this lady committed no-no#1 ‘hairy ring’, she’s then let the stubble return. OK, let’s give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she’s decided to grow it all back.

LOL, i say you should be grateful to get it in any shape or form. Women have no “no-nos”.

What a wonderful blog. I read all of your posts. Please keep it up. My husband and I are very interested.

However, we have one suggestion as well. We are Muslims and we believe in keeping modesty of the eyes. For example, my husband may not look at the genitals of women (other than me of course! I should also add that because of this we have a wonderful sex-life where we solely focus on each other). So he unfortunately can not benefit from the wonderful information that you have put on the site other than hearing it second hand from me. Is there any way that you could sensor some pictures (for example pixelate the vagina) so that modest men could also make use of your work?

    Thank you.

      Hi Fatima.
Thanks for visiting and leaving your comments. Your predicament is one I must admit had not occurred to me. Pixelating the past posts would be very difficult, but perhaps I could make a more modest version of one of my ‘gallery’ pictures. In the meantime, how about the illustration in the Popular styles for modern ladies post. Would that be OK for him to view I wonder?

    Some one could help me?…

Hi Lyam, thanks for your comment. I’m glad you like the site.

Sorry to hear about your predicament. We’ve been lucky so far…no shaving rash. The general advice seems to be as follows:

      1. Trim the hair short with a sharp pair of scissors first
      2. Have a warm bath before (soften the hair)
      3. Use a brand-new single blade razor (ideally one made for women)
      4. Apply a mild hypo-allergenic shaving gel (not foam, not soap. Ideally one made for women) We use Gillette Satin Care.
      5. Shave in the direction of the hair growth (not ‘against the grain’)
      6. Avoid going over the same spot again and again.
      7. Wash away all the gel and hair with clean warm water
      8. Dab dry with a clean towel (don’t rub)
      9. Apply a soothing gel (like aloe vera)
      10. Wear comfortable cotton panties the next day (not tight, not nylon)

More good advice here, here, and here.

      Best wishes and good luck.

I’ve had some issues with shaving in the backyard: regrowth is really uncomfortable and there are some troublesome angles to get as close as I’d like. Any special suggestions for rear area care?

      Hi Christina,
Readers Juila and Christie commented on the post Rear View that they squat over a mirror when shaving so that they don’t miss any hair around their backyard areas. Of course, shaved pubes are always going to come back as stubble sooner or later, and as you know, that can be very uncomfortable around the ring. I think that’s where waxing can really pay off, if you can put up with the humiliating contortions and pain involved. Here’s an article on pubic hair care that specifically addresses the hair around the anus. On the other hand, this article aimed at both sexes recommends laser treatment, done by a medical professional, as the safest option.
